Volkswagen of the Eastern Townships
Project summary
The project was divided into two phases to ensure the smoothest possible continuity of operations.
In the first phase, an extension was erected in front of and on the right-hand side of the building. In view of the timetable, the exterior fittings were even completed before the steel structure, to avoid traffic on unpaved driveways in the spring. All interior fittings were carried out in the extension, and the customer was able to move in to allow renovation of the existing portion.
In a second phase, the existing structure was stripped down and the new fittings installed, in accordance with Volkswagen Canada’s new specifications.

Challenge #1
The existing façade was tilted, with the top more advanced than the bottom. Safe demolition methods had to be developed in collaboration with the design engineer to avoid overloading the existing structure and allow operations to continue inside.
Challenge #2
Customer operations had to continue comfortably and safely during the work. Frequent coordination meetings, attention to interior and exterior traffic plans, and detailed phasing of the work were put in place to ensure the fluidity of operations and the worksite.
