Brill Road Bridge

Project summary
HUDL was commissioned to carry out the complete demolition of the existing bridge on Brill Road in West Bolton, which crosses Highway 10. The purpose of this project was to replace an infrastructure at the end of its service life with a new structure that complies with the current standards of the Quebec Ministry of Transport, ensuring safety and sustainability for users in the Brome-Missisquoi region.
The new two-span bridge was constructed using precast prestressed concrete beams and a reinforced concrete slab. With a total length of 85.4 meters, a width of 9.9 meters, and a clearance height of 5.2 meters above the highway, it rests on sturdy foundations consisting of steel tubular piles and box piles. This civil engineering project required careful planning to minimize traffic disruption and ensure optimal integration with Highway 10.

Challenge #1
The installation of steel tubular piles and caissons in soils with geotechnical controls (dynamic testing, sonic auscultation, etc.) is a major challenge for the project. This type of work carries a high risk of non-compliance or delay. Thanks to our experience in this field and exemplary planning, the foundations were completed without any delays or non-compliance, ensuring the stability and durability of the structure.
Challenge #2
The handling and installation of the prefabricated prestressed concrete beams, each nearly 42 meters long per span, required specialized equipment and meticulous logistics. The operation, carried out in a single night, went off without a hitch thanks to optimal coordination between the teams and resources mobilized. This technical challenge was successfully met, ensuring the quality and compliance of the new structure.
